The Taylor County Health Department is one of 16 county health departments that make up the West Central Health District and provides preventive health services to the citizens of Taylor County so that individuals can achieve and/or maintain optimum health status. The Health Department collaborates with local, district and state agencies to provide a variety of services to include the following:
Child Health Services:
Immunizations, Women Infants and Children (WIC), Health Check Screenings, Hearing, Vision and Dental Screenings, Children 1st Services
Adult Services:
Immunizations, SHAPP (Hypertension Services), Family Planning, Breast Test & More, Infectious Disease (STD’s, & TB) treatment and follow-up, Presumptive Eligibility Medicaid applications, Pregnancy Testing
Other Services:
Environmental Health Services:
These services include food service inspections and training, sewage evaluations, rabies control, insect and rodent control.
Emergency Preparedness:
PH responds to various emergency situations such as pandemics and other natural or man- made disasters. Collaborates with district and community partners in preparing citizens to respond to disasters, provides training and quarterly CHEART (County Health Emergency Assistance & Resource Team) meetings in ongoing planning and response efforts.
